Very Nicely Designed Vacation Home in Southwest Kauai

This reminds me of homes designed by Bernard Maybeck and Julia Morgan during the Arts and Crafts Movement in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1900s. Note the fine lava rock masonry work of the fireplace, the gentle curves at the ends of the rafters. Well designed, well built.

beautiful lava rock too. This must be in a place where the more frequent hurricanes don't come. As to me it also looks like it was built in the early 1900's. Hip roofs make the hurricanes better when the "wind doth bloooooooooooow."

what is the wall covering/cladding? at first glance i thought it was stucco of some sort, but with further review i think it is vertical boards? weathered out or finished? great patina in either case.
