Perfect Design For Small Home

Come to think of it, I might do a series of photos of elegant proportion: barns, farm buildings, modest homes, commercial buildings, public buildings…I'm always on the lookout.

My favorite definition of architecture: "…the art and science of building." Too bad so few architects are builders.

Dog house is in Kapaa, Kauai.

I so agree...I see so many houses, large and small, that make me cringe with the unfortunate fenestration. Elegant proportions are SO beautiful...

There are so many elegantly proportioned, colorful, practical, and weather resistant homes MANY places in the world where BIG was not equal to BETTER. For some easy photo hunting, Loyd, I suggest the Island of Hispañola. Palm tree planks, or siding, stand the test of time. Older homes in the State of Vera Cruz Mx are also LOVELY. Even the Gardenplatz sheds in Switzerland are perfect examples of why castles should have gone the way of the knights on steeds who protected them..

Yes ! Beautifully elegant proportions "make" a structure, at least in my layman's view. Please, pretty please do a series of beautifully proportioned structures -- especially cottages and small houses. My goal is to have a beautifully proportioned small house of 900 or so square feet for my retirement years, made of real wood siding and other natural materials. Vinyl siding and windows are grotesque.

You discover and capture so many interesting buildings and homes. I was just in J. Michaels Books in Eugene, Oregon, and he had several of your books up on display in the architectural section of the store. It was good to see such interest in your works around here. - Margy
