Blendtec Blender/Green Smoothies

I'm tempted to say that this tool is a life changer, but I'm prone to exaggeration, so I'll just say it's a game changer. The game being that by mid-day I'm usually rolling with my writing or book layout and don't like to take the time to make a decent lunch.
   Enter the Blendtec and "green smoothies." I combine greens plus fresh or frozen fruit, vitamins, protein powder, almonds, hemp seeds and whatever else I see around, turn on the Blendtec and have a delicious drink while working. I do it 2-3 times a week.
   I'm getting fresh-from-garden raw greens -- parsley, kale, chard, or lettuce, whatever looks good, plus fruit, protein, carbos, vitamins. There are tons of recipes for green smoothies. I use Gold Standard vanilla whey protein -- good flavor, high protein (something like 55 grams in 2 scoops): info here.
   This is a big powerful machine and it can be used for any number of things. It's nothing like the blenders most of us are familiar with. In addition to smoothies, you can chop, juice, grind grain, and make soup or ice cream.
   I got it for $400 from Amazon here. Expensive, but high quality, highly useful, long lasting.

Lloyd, have you ever put a pack of broccali Sprouts in (these one in particular)?

am wondering if it smoothly purees the seed ends of the sprouts. (mine does not , different make)...

My wife and I have been using that same protein for the last year, we did the research and it's the best we've found and a very reasonable price. The Natural Vanilla tastes great, quality protein and no artificial sweeteners. Right now the 5 lb jug is the best deal at $54, but always check multiple vendors through Amazon, prices vary widely.

We always add a half cup of Wymans frozen wild blueberries, coconut milk and a touch of organic whole milk. We're late 50s, since we started using this our body compositions have returned to our ideal, by eating more protein and no sugar and grains we have really leaned out and muscled up with very moderate exercise routines.

When you have beautiful vegetables from garden. Why add crap (whey) milk by product? Raw vegetable protein is answer. Raw vegetable protein is far superior. Your body looks at whey andsays this is fforeign invasion and starts manufacturing white blood cells. Milk and whey are for animals not babies and adults. Whey produces inflammatory in joints and arteries. Not a good choice add a raw egg and vegetable protein to smoothies.

Why in the world would you deliver potentially helpful information in such a stuck up, snobbish whey?(pun intended). When you act like a know-it-all jerk people will probably just write you off or ignore the info out of spite. Your delivery undermines your intent.

You posted about the blendtec a while back, and I looked into and made the investment. Vey happy I did. It really is great for juices, and also making purees for my baby daughter. Love it. I meant to drop a note to thank you for the pointer, and this post served as a good reminder to do so.

While I'm at it, let me say thanks for serving up so many good pointers on music, books, and other genuinely interesting stuff. I find your work and your general approach to living to be very inspiring, and this blog serves as a real re-orienting palette cleanser after wading through so much of the other muck that permeates the web.
