Many years ago i spent a couple of weeks in the town of Mendocino and camped on the beach which was just below the town. The sand was strewn with driftwood of all sizes. Together with some other wayfaring sorts I helped to build lean-to shelters there, and we camped there during that time. I have a vague memory of waking up and finding my shoes had been washed away but other than that a grand time was had by all; playing music, building fires and other recreational activities. We got miner's lettuce from the cliffsides there - the bright orange flowers were edible and we cooked them up in a stew.
