Talk by David Simon, creator of The Wire

What got me roaming around Kevin Kelly's writings was his recent recommendation of a video of David Simon, creator of HBO's The Wire, talking about capitalism, health care, Wall Street, corporate greed, the Republicans, poverty, America's blowing it on so many fronts, the futility of the drug war, the for-profit prison system -- and why Snoop (the real life Snoop) was recently arrested. At the end of this long and serious talk, he asked for questions, and quipped that everyone always wants to talk about Omar.
Indeed.

Omar is probably my favorite TV character of all time, and The Wire is for sure the best ever TV series.

Thanks for the reference Lloyd.
Now that I have watched the video, I realize that knowledge of 'The Wire' or Omar is absolutely unnecessary ( some of us don't watch or have TV, eh!) and irrelevant. Worth watching. The same message has been spoken by many over the years but it seems to be coming to a head. The divided are becoming united. It's going to be the 60's all over again.

I don't own a TV, but my daughter insisted that I see The Wire. So glad I made an exception. And Omar floats my boat! How awesome to see The Wire mentioned on my favorite blog.
