Wharton Esherick House (Now Museum)
"I had never heard of Wharton Esherick before this visit, but I found his work fascinating. He started to build this house in 1926, and continued to add to it until his death in 1970. It was particularly interesting to see the house in the Fall, as he colored the house to match the fall colors.…"

There is no one place you can look at that house and not see something that is not only a thing of beauty, but also just right.
My favorite colors is of Autumn. My house is almost completely done in those colors, and thus I find them beautiful. I want to explore this one also. Patty
Love the colors of the wood!
Beautiful, whimsical and totally delightful...
I am perpetually inspired by your site..
In the late 70's Fine Woodworking Magazine had an article on the woodworking of Wharton Esherick and then an early issue of Fine Homebuilding had an article on the studio. I was hooked. I had to see this place and then became a member. Of all the building influences in my life, Esherick is number one. Thanks for showing this so a new generation of builders can see a master of the arts and crafts.
Looks like an enjoyable eclectic mix. I particularly like the arch resting against the wall on the right hand side, it looks perilously thin on the top edge where it appears to support a path.
Well worth a visit, make an appointment first http://whartonesherickmuseum.org/

based on seeing the fine homebuilding article many years ago, I went there for a visit when traveling back to the east coast maybe 10 years ago. a really excellent structure - so many elegant, non-traditional, flat-out gorgeous details & touches. have a shed I built with a caternary ridge-line inspired by his garage. highly recommend a visit if you have the chance ...
