It has been a pleasure to see these few posts on lookout/watchtowers. I enjoy sketching some of the structures I find on my wanders in the woodlands. The towers here are fairly modest in comparison!
Wow! I didn't even know they had trees in Nebraska.
I always fancied doing this for a summer. It was Jack Karouacs book the Dharma Bums (better read than on the road IMO) where he heads off to a fire lookout for a summer of solitude - We don't have an equivalent in the UK. It used to be lighthouse wardens, But they have ceased to be manned all auto now.
