awesome! We defiantly need to do something like that.
Those curtains would be so much more effective if there was a pelmet across the top, and the curtains were wider than the window and didn't have a gap between the curtain and the wall. Makes me cold just looking at all those drafty gaps ;-)

It's a good idea, but if you don't close up the top and sides, air will thermo-siphon through the gaps and you won't have nearly so much energy savings.
Saving money on utility bills, and plowing those savings into more energy-saving upgrades, is a great way to keep pushing the envelope. The more you save - the more you can save again later.
