French photographers document Detroit ruins

"Up and down Detroit’s streets, buildings stand abandoned and in ruin. French photographers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre set out to document the decline of an American city. Their book 'The Ruins of Detroit,'“ a document of decaying buildings frozen in time, was published in December 2010."

Jeez, this building tugs on my heartstrings. Something about it…

You know, I knew things were bad in Detroit, but I didn't know they were that bad. Some of those buildings were incredibly beautiful, and their current state is lamentable.

Seems like a good place to start a salvage material business..

Andrew Moore has published a beautiful photo book based on the demise of Detroit. The photo show was traveling the country last year and it was a once-in-a-lifetime exhibit. The color prints were huge and beautiful. I saw it in Akron Ohio last Fall.Check Andrew Moore out!

That's just an upsetting picture, but very artistic. Could I use that in my forum? I have some family in Detroit, but I never witnessed such sad pictures.

I can't give permission. You'll have to contact the photographer.
