It tells you something that when the folks at the Palo Alto Research Center were given a budget of $30,000 to buy any utility vehicle they wanted, they chose a 1960s vintage VW bus, which they bought off eBay and subsequently converted to electric. I've owned two vintage microbuses in my lifetime and never had a more practical or reliable vehicle.
Looks like the tire got peed on.
Really inspiring nice rack. Thanks for posting yet another amazing old VDUB
Funny that you would post this now. I'm in the market for a nice camper, van, something. I think a Vanagon would be an interesting way to travel and camp... this one is beautiful!
This beauty reminds me of my first(of 6) Vans. It was red like this one with a green door with beefy tires. I bought it for 200.00 in 1988 and sold it a few months later in Puerto Penasco Mexico for 210.00. I bet its still doing its thing. Vans made my climbing-bum/ ski-bum lifestyle possible for almost 15 years.
